Over 100 years ago as the times were changing some local residents with some forethought were searching for a better way to protect their property against diaster. These pioneers pooled their resources to form the original insurance company. There are references as far back as 1892 when the company was call Farmers and Labors Mutual Insurance Association of Marion County and in 1938 the company name was changed once again to its present name of Farmers Mutual Insurance of Marion County. As time passed by, the company began to grow in policyholders as well as the types of insurance policies being offered on both home and farms. In the beginning the company's main objective was to offer a good quality product at a reasonable cost and that philosophy remains as strong today as it was in 1892.

The company is regulated by the Missouri Department of Insurance and is required by law to have in place a reinsurance program to protect its policyholders and the company in case of a catastrophe. The company is controlled by a local Board of Director, whose directors are elected for 3-year terms at its Annual Policyholders Meeting held each year on the 4th Thursday in January. The main objective of the Board of Directors is keeping your company strong and to provide quality service that you expect and deserve.

Serving the policyholders in our community since 1892.
